I interviewed for a job today and got an email that they will call me to discuss “good news” tomorrow. I’m really excited. This job has great benefits, growth opportunities, is kind of related to a field I’m interested in, fully remote and mostly individual work with flexible schedule which is awesome. However, it doesn’t really use my educational background and pay isn’t great.
I also did a much more intensive interview with a startup earlier this week and I have yet to hear back from them. I honestly don’t have a good feel on whether or not I will receive an offer from them. I believe the company has potential to go far. The company would pay a bit better (they are waiting to discuss further until next steps), good benefits (not as good), it would be a lot of work and not work I’m super excited about, although I am excited about the company and it is a field I would happy to grow in. The position sounds very involved and like it would be a lot of work for not too much in return (immediately) until the company grows. And again, I don’t have an offer yet. This company says they will likely get back to me early next week.
So, how do I tactfully say I am waiting on a response from a previous interview before accepting this position tomorrow. Can I even do that? I am tempted to just accept the offer and rejoice that I have got a job in such a difficult time.
I have been without work for several months so even getting one offer is amazing and I don’t want to lose it. If I wasn’t waiting on this other one I would take it in a heartbeat.
