I graduated about 5 months ago with a BS in engineering and have been actively applying places for 8 months. It was okay applying for a lot of positions at first because I had some hope but now any I had is totally gone. I started applying for positions that didn’t even require a degree and I never heard anything back. I had a couple initial engineering interviews but nothing for a few months now. I’ve tried messaging recruiters who after some initial contact just ghosted me. I just want to freaking give up. The final straw was getting two interviews for retail positions and not even getting those jobs. Every time I even apply for a position now I absolutely hate myself and feel like a total failure as I watch all my friends move on with their lives and have jobs and have money to do anything. I’ve been doing food delivery and barely have enough money to live. It’s just a level of frustration and depression I can barely deal with anymore. I’m getting worse and worse with interviews because my confidence is completely gone. I don’t have anyone to talk to who even remotely understands what I’m going through because they all got jobs right out of college or a long time ago before the internet. Now I’m questioning whether my degree was even worth it if I’m going to be stuck jobless for a long time. How do you just keep applying when literally nothing is working?
