I am 23 year old woman, I am a very hard worker, never late by a second and always positive. But when I am not appreciated I get frustrated which has led to me quitting my job car washing 40hrs/week $15/hr. They stopped our bonus pay ($10/car about $50+/day) since Covid and halved the washing crew, so needless to say we were all overworked and underpaid. Not like this is easy breezy car wash, this was a high end luxury dealer. My boss wanted to transfer me to another wash bay where I would be alone, in the dark, with poor ventilation, and using an inaccessible bathroom that had 2000lbs of heavy equipment stacked in front of it. My boss never gave me a reason why I needed to go there besides, "because I said so". I refused because I was happy where I was, he wrote me up for insubordination. I quit right then as I would not have been able to do my job in the other location, and I was the only one who cared about the quality of my work. I was fighting back tears walking away because I took pride in every car I washed to make sure the owner would be thrilled.
My parents help me, but I am almost out of money and cannot live off them. I have been looking for a job everyday and I have applied to over 30 jobs, well only two of them have gotten back to me. One was a detailing job I did a working interview and I did a very good job, but still went in trying to learn about their system. He told me he would call me back, he never did. I texted him a couple days later thanking him for the opportunity, no reply. Next I'm still expecting a call back from a stocking company, RGIS. I just anticipate they are overwhelmed with new hires right now. But besides that, no one else has called or emailed me back. Yet I hear businesses saying they are struggling to find people, but I can't get hired.
I applied to a job detailing AND car washing at a local dealership the first day I lost this job, never received a reply. Then yesterday I went on craigslist and found they had posted another ad for both detailing and car washing.
Does this have to do with me being a woman seeking physical labor, auto industry, and delivery jobs? Or am I just unlucky? I'd totally work a receptionist job if I could find one, but I've only had experience doing jobs that require tons of strength and/or stamina. I can't find any jobs right now, I have been looking online everyday. What do I do?
