Asking my boss for a raise on Monday. Could use some advice.

My current salary is really low for the work I have done for this company and the value I add. How do I justify asking for a 17% raise (the amount I know others make for the same position)?

I also know that my boss will ask my current salary (not sure why he asks this, shouldn’t he know?) - how do I skirt this question without being insubordinate? I know the number I want and I know we’re good for it (business has been exceptionally good due to COVID).
