I started at this company two years ago as the youngest and with zero experience in the field. I’ve since proven myself and have gone from processing specialist where I process tickets all day to a very different role than I started out in. I quickly became one of two go-to people and started training others, then took on reporting for the team, then that transitioned to a “lead” position where I have five processors reporting to myself, I assign their work and ensure everything is completed within SLA. I train new employees, am responsible for a region of clients, have gone on offsite client visits, and am now in weekly VP/Director calls to answer any questions they may have for my team. All that is great and I enjoy the work... but the promotion that I was told encompassed these new job duties has fallen flat due to covid. I have people reporting to me who have the same title/job description as me and who make more due to their experience. I’ve been handling these new responsibilities without an increase in pay for about 4 months now and I’ve just been told all raises/promotions are on hold until AT LEAST the end of the calendar year. What do I do? I enjoy the work but it’s been really stressful taking on so much additional responsibility under the assumption I was getting a raise then finding out it will be 10 months later before I see another cent more. Am I making this a bigger deal than it is and I should suck it up and take the loss for several months? Should I look for employment elsewhere despite having only 2 years experience in the field? I just leave work each day so pissed off that it ruins the rest of my night.
