10 ways of spotting fake jobs

Hey all! Just wanted to share some ways of spotting fake jobs on the internet or cues that would raise a red flag. I've encountered so many fake jobs throughout my job hunt and wanted to share this with y'all. I am also currently looking for a second job.

  1. Unusually High Pay: I remember getting a job offer as an office admin which the hourly income was around $16-20... Big red light. And keep in mind, this was an entry-level position with NO experience needed.
  2. Poor and broken English: This can be from the job description itself or from a job offer email
  3. Email address format: When you get a job offer via email, none of those should be sent from a Gmail, outlook, or yahoo address. They should be sent using a company email.
  4. Format of the email: Is the email professional? does it have the person's contact information in a business card format?
  5. Job description: While job hunting, there may be some instances where you will stumble upon a task that mentions you delivering packages and sending them. If you do spot those descriptions, discard that job.
  6. ANY job that that is offering you a FAKE check to buy office supplies
  7. Text interviews
  8. No company website
  9. If they send you a google forms job application
  10. If they give you an option to be paid bi-weekly or weekly
