Workplace just asked for a work permit that I don't have

I am 17 and live in Pennsylvania. I had been offered a job before any of the coronavirus quarantine started and was told I just needed to fill out a few forms to get the job. Then quarantine happened and they later got in touch with me once they reopened. I then came and signed all the necessary papers and filled out tax information, etc. This was my first job, and so I was excited to start. I worked half of the days last week for 5-6 hour shifts. Just today, a higher up at the place I work asked for a copy of a work permit. I was never told that I needed a work permit, and so I never got one, since this is my first job. My next shift is tomorrow, and they will likely expect me to bring my work permit. What should I do?
