Offered a job that pays well below my market value but the job itself could lead to major connections. Accept or pass?
I was recently offered a job that pays $20/hr when realistically my minimum ask would be $25/hr. I work in legal support. The thing is, the job itself entails a lot of elbow-rubbing with local politicians. I plan on becoming a member of the state bar next spring (after taking the February 2021 bar exam) and practicing law by that point. I feel like this job could give me great contacts for having an “in” at the big law firms in my state but I don’t know if that potential is enough for me to accept such a low-paying offer. On the other hand, I’m wary of the possibility of another economic recession/depression and wonder if I might regret passing on this current job offer in a few months time. Thoughts? Any advice would be appreciated!
