Etiquette for following up on a start-date delayed by COVID.

Hi,

I have a upcoming job where employment contract has been signed, but there is no determinate start-date (due to lock-down). How should I be following up? Should I be emailing monthly check-ups, thinking of questions to ask to stay in contact, or just waiting until they contact me?
