I've been working for the past couple years as a contractor for company A and my supervisor works for A, but I was technically employed by company B (which is an HR outsourcing company)
I was then given an offer to work for A and accepted it. I am now no longer employed by B and am technically an employee of A. My previous job title was "Software Engineer". Now, my internal job title is "R&D Engineer" and the level is senior, but the internal job title doesn't include "Sr" in it. I'm not sure how big a deal this is, but I've heard that it can be a big deal as recruiters on Linkedin can be more likely to contact you once you have "Sr" in your title. HR did tell me I could work with my supervisor on what my external job title should be that I could use for business cards or whatever
- Should I talk about this with my supervisor and see if he'll let me include "Sr" in my external job title?
- Or should I just put "R&D Engineer, Sr." on the resume I use in case I want to apply for other companies and on my Linkedin page?
- For my previous employment as a contractor with B, what should I put on my resume and Linkedin? Something like "Software Engineer - contractor at Company A"? And not mention I was technically employed by B? Or do I have to list company B?
