For those of you who moved for a job and/or left a company for a raise, how big of a raise was needed before you to make the decision to leave, and conversely, would you take a pay cut to move to a place you've been wanting to move to for a long time for whatever reason it may be (career, desire, etc
Hi all,
I'm curious as to what everyone has to say. I'm currently in Texas working in biopharma/biotech. Pay is good, life is good, I am able to save a good bit and my family is here. I'm still relatively young with nothing holding ne down. For those who dont know, the life science industry is centralized along the coasts (Boston, San Francisco, Tri State area)and generally speaking, you should move to those areas if you want to advance your career by having the large number of companies in the area to jump around to.
These areas are expensive though and I've grown up here all my life and the company is actually in the area I grew up in. I think theres value in putting yourself in uncomfortable situations but I'm not too sure if I really also understand the true intrinsic value of being in a "hub" of jobs for your line of work.
I definitely save a lot here because Texas is cheap and moving to these areas I mentioned would definitely lower savings since I will have to put more towards rent.
Would love to hear everyone's experiences and/thoughts.
