Job Opportunity worth it?

I'm currently a firefighter making around 40k and I got a job offer as admin assistant for 30k. I'm looking at going back to school for IT, and the admin assistant job would have a regular 8 to 5 schedule. They also get mad if I study at the fire department. So would it be worth it to take the job and does it sound worth it? The firefighter job technically pays more but we do 70 to 80 hrs a week so the other job probably comes out to equal or more in terms of hourly salary.
