I'm currently 27 years old. I'm working in a restaurant right now as a kitchen expeditor making $17 an hour. I have promised myself for about 4 years that I would be out of this industry and find something that would help me more in achieving financial independence, and yet here I still am.
I graduated college in 2015 with a BS in Applied Kinesiology with a minor in Nutrition without a set plan of what to do after. My GPA is a 2.9. From what I learned after I graduated, my degree doesn't give me any advantages. For the past few years I have worked in restaurants in various positions. I also have experience working in a call center for a hospital. I did enlist for the Navy after graduation, but I got a punitive discharge because I revealed my history with depression, which I did have a 2 week stay in a treatment facility for.
Personality wise, I'm all about self-improvement. I don't own a TV at home, and I would stay out of the house as long as possible to go to the gym, and go to a coffee shop to read. I always considered myself a deep, analytical thinker, and that has helped me with problem solving during my restaurant work. I am not the most natural with people interaction, but at the very least I make it a point to listen and to stay committed to solving a problem or doing my job. I do consider myself to be energetic for my age, which is a product of just keeping myself and my brain healthy.
Right now, I'm just unsure about where to go. I don't know if going back to school would be worth it because I am already about $50k in debt as it is. I am also just unsure in general about what I want to do. I don't consider myself to have any passions. The only thing I care about is getting put into a position where I can make more money, become financially independent, and live comfortably, and I would for sure be open to developing skills to do so if I knew a way. Any help is appreciated.
