I worry my job history that is sporadic due to domestic violence will lead me to dead end jobs.

I am four months out of a marriage that involved domestic violence and abuse. The turmoil caused during this time in my life led to multiple moves, changes in jobs, periods of unemployment, as well as bad attendance over the last 4 years of my life. I am having to move at the end of May to a new state and will be starting over once again after having worked at a job for four months (if I don’t move I will be homeless).

My questions:

How do I explain these gaps or short months working at jobs on my resume? What can I do to make myself stand out on online application so that recruiters do not automatically toss out my application? I have an associates degree and want to work on a long standing career, what sort of courses or certificates should I take between now and May to for lack of a better word pad my resume to make up for my job history?

Thank you.
