I have been applying to jobs for the past year and a half and still have not received any offers. I’ve been mainly looking into publishing and editing positions (as that is what I basically went to school for) but have expanded to include more content-oriented positions. I have even applied to many library positions at multiple libraries, but I have only had 1 interview for a library position that I did not get. I have been applying rigorously (sometimes up to 10 applications a day) and I look on Indeed and LinkedIn everyday for new jobs. I’ve only had a couple of interviews, but two of the jobs I got to the last stages only not to be hired. Both led me on as well. One of them had me work on a couple of articles and editorial pieces for them only to tell me, a week later, that I did not get the job. The other one basically implied that I was going to be hired only to then send me an email a couple of days later saying they were pursuing another candidate. This was also weird because they told me they had multiple positions open and were looking to build a whole new team. I don’t know what to do, I’m getting so discouraged because I can’t get anything to stick. I know a couple of the jobs I’ve applied to I met every requirement they asked for and then some, yet I can’t even get an interview with them. Does anybody have any suggestions on what I can do? Any good tips on interviewing and tailoring my resume? I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, but obviously I’m doing something wrong.
