Had a first interview last week that went well. Was unsurprised to learn today that I got a second interview. Fwiw, it's a remote, full-time analyst/consulting position.
Would it be reasonable to inquire about salary before the next phase? I'm legitimately interested in the position, but I would hate to spend 20 hours of my life working toward the next phase only to then find out that it doesn't pay what I'm seeking.
My wife suggested that I couch my inquiry to make it seem like I don't want to waste my time, and more importantly, their time. I think it's a sound proposition, but if there's a chance that it damages my candidacy I'm hesitant to ask.
Recent PhD here, and basically new to the traditional job market. All advice appreciated.
