For multiple reasons, all very frustrating and mostly out of my hands, I am a semester away from graduating with my bachelor's in linguistics and foreign languages, but will not be able to return to school for some time. I have certification in TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) as well as a few years' experience teaching both adults and children in various settings. My TEFL cert is legit, and in date, from a reputable school. All my previous teaching jobs were either volunteer, tutoring, or based in a foreign country. I am based in the USA.
I have been contacted by recruiters for schools in my area, but I am afraid if they request my degree info or ask if I graduated, I'll be immediately shot down. Is there any point in my searching for a teaching job? Are schools open to hiring experienced ESL/Language teachers even if they aren't graduated? It's what I love, and I'm very good at it.
