Can I move from advertising to consulting or business development?

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to read. I am a recent graduate who has been actively searching for jobs. I've only been getting serious leads from ad agencies for planning and buying positions. Are the skills acquired from these roles at all transferable to the consulting industry or for general business development roles in general, or would I be pigeon holed into the advertising industry? In other words, if I were to work at an agency as a planner or buyer for a few years, would I have any shot at gaining an entry level or low level role at a consulting firm or as a business analyst?
