I work at a warehouse here in Southern California and get paid minimum wage hourly + commission for bringing in customers. Recently, my boss told my coworkers and me that if we leave any trash in the break room he will be taking out pay from our commission at the end of the month. I’ve always been very neat and clean up after myself at home and at work. But yesterday I left my lemonade in the break room, and forgot to throw it away. This morning my boss said that deductions will be getting applied and if we don’t come forward about who left the pay the deduction will be doubled. Obviously I told him it was me and that I’m sorry. However, I’m just wondering is this allowed? I’ve never heard of an employer doing this and it seems kind of weird...
