Can employer withhold pay if I fail to work all scheduled hours? Salaried exempt worker.

I usually work 5 days a week. I'm supposed to work 50 hours a week, but its usually 45-48. Get paid a set salary every week. This week, I only worked one day(9 hours) because my pregnant wife had to be admitted to the hospital due to pre-eclampsia. Eventually resulted in a c-section. I choose not to use a vacation for the week because I wanted to save them to help with her and the baby.

Anyways, my boss said he was fighting for me to get my full pay. I didn't think about it at the time, but I told him do whatever he needed to with it. So, I get back to the hospital and I'm thinking about it. Am I not entitled to my full pay regardless of hours worked?
