I often see people telling others to do their homework on what your market value is, but you'll also see people telling you that all the online resources for that (payscale, glassdoor Etc.) are bs and not to be trusted.
I have an interview coming up for a role i haven't done before but I've been in the industry for about a decade. In the phone screen i was asked for a salary, for some reason told them less than I'd really be willing to do the job for(it's far away requiring a lot of travel). In further looking on payscale, glassdoor, i found that job title in my area apparently is paid about 30% more on average than i asked for. I know i don't have exactly that role's experience but i have lot of industry experience. Moreso, found some paysa and simplyhired sites that say the position at the company I'm interviewing at pays that position supposedly 30-50% more than i asked for. Just wondering if those places are trustworthy, and otherwise where do you find salary information.
