Job opening and I have a connection with someone who works there on LinkedIn

Hi all,

As a job seeker, sometimes I send invites to recruiters "networking and open for opportunities," even though there are no openings at the time. But what if shortly after we connect, I see an opening at their company and I want to give my shot at it?

If I want to reach out to them to let them know that I've applied for this role, how should I send them this message?

Actually, should I actually put their name on the application? Wouldn't that normally require their permission?

I don't know how to do this, and sometimes it's not a recruiter of the company that I've connected with. Isn't it weird that I, a random person is asking them for a favor? How does this work?
