I’m 31, and have been with my current company for 9 years. I joined in their graduate programme, and worked my way up into middle management. It’s public sector - so job security for life pretty much, good pension...but rubbish pay. I also don’t have much further room for progression, and things are feeling a bit stale.
Ive applied for essentially my current role but in finance sector. It’s more than double the salary. However being in finance I am wary about redundancies etc (I am in UK, so BREXIT etc is scary...).
Not sure I’ll even get to interview...but am I stupid for even applying?!
Any thoughts welcomed, I am feeling lost. I don’t have a partner or kids to support, but I do have a mortgage if that makes any difference.

Stay in a ‘safe’ job for life...or leave for more money, but less job security?
