I have been cleaning up my life, I recently did a job interview for a big company that I aced! I have a solid resume but I burned every bridge on the way to where I am now. I have a few good recent work references, but nobody from my resume would likely give me a good reference. Advice?
The interview has a rough patch or two where I didn't know how to answer. BUT, my preparation for this interview I feel put me pretty high on the list for potential applicants. I expect an offer within the timeframe they have layed out.
My work history is good, but when I left every job it was not on the greatest terms. I was never fired for work ethic or anything one would normally be fired for. One job I left due to some human rights complaints against the conduct of management vs the workers, I was young and I took a payout which was related to an injury related to the infractions.
Another job I left due to abuse of a coworker (I was a manager and the abuse was from a more senior manager) the ranking manager made me feel guilty for threatening him and his family when I brought up the issue and that it should be addressed to the owner.
I have a few people in mind that would give me a good work reference but the two most notable jobs I have held are the two that I can't get reference from.
What should I do? Do you think it would be weird to use other references and ignore the ones that would be notable?
Both these positions are over 5 years old.
