Convincing cover letter for the opportunity of my dreams

Sorry if this is a wall of vague text, I'm just really excited!

I recently came across a short apprenticeship program in a field I'm ecstatic, enthusiastic and passionate about. It could be a huge opportunity for me.

I'm very nervous about writing a cover letter that adequately conveys how in love with this idea I am but doesn't come across as desperate.

Because as passionate and interested as I am, I actually have relatively little related experience so all my hope is riding on my ability to sell myself as a wellspring of potential, a diamond in the rough, whatever other metaphor you'd prefer.

Most cover letter resources are very basic, and geared towards people that already have experience in the field.

Any advice for me???
