Letter of interest/introduction: address a conviction (plea deal) outright or wait?

Was falsely accused of some straight up trumped up nonsense at a previous job. Said nonsense is disclosed as part of the application process to begin with, so should I just address it in a letter of interest/letter of introduction or stick to a tried and true format for these letters?
