Switched From Salary to Hourly on the First Day

I was offered a job as a salaried employee and on my first day of the job I was told the job was actually hourly.

The pay is still the same but now I have to clock in each day.

I'm not sure how to handle this, it seems like a huge red flag.

Is this legal? Is there anything I can do about this? All my paperwork for the job states that it's an hourly position.
