A job that I've been in the interview process for is seeking someone with 1-2 years of industry experience and is offering a salary of ~$95K. Some of the job requirements are admittingly at a lower level than I'm currently doing at my job (manager), however, during the interview process I learned that I'll probably be doing things above my level as well since the team I'd be joining is smaller -- so there's more room to work on a few different things which I really like.
I want to make sure that I'm being challenged in my new job and that it's a step above what I'm currently doing, which it sounds like it would be in some sense, but I'd also be working on projects that were my responsibility like 1-2 years ago.
I currently make ~$75K and have 3+ years of experience and feel like I could not only negotiate a higher salary, but also a higher position title.
The new company has an interesting tiered promotion structure, each position has two "levels" that you go through before moving on to a new position title. So for example, I would get hired on as "Position Title 1" and then in 6 months or whatever get promoted with a raise to "Position Title 2" and then after XX amount of time, would get a promotion and raise to a new title "Senior Position Title 1" and so it goes on.
It's one of my dream companies to work for and I loved the team I'd be working with, but is it possible to negotiate a higher salary and position title? How would I back that up when I'm asking for it? And is it even possible given my years of experience?
If I accept everything in the package as is, I feel like the "Position Level 1" would put me at the 1-year experience mark and it would take me a few years to get up to where I actually feel like I am currently which is "Senior Position Title 1." (They also don't have anyone in this position, by the way, the next person above me is very senior)
