I am currently in the process of applying to a job with a local attorney (less than 2 employees in his office). However, his job post does not give much direction for the specific documents that he is looking for. While the standard documents are certainly a must (resume, cover letter, reference sheet), I fear that emailing him to ask for clarification might be too much for his office given its size.
Something related to this is that I am currently contacting professors to act as my references but I likely won't hear back from them for another week (they are slow to respond in the summer). Should I contact the attorney's office to tell him that I'm interested in the job, but am currently delayed from applying because of my references. My current fear is that if I wait another week for my references to return my emails then I lose the advantage of applying to the job now prior to students at the local college returning to the area and increasing the competition for the job substantially.
Questions:
- Do I email him for clarification about the documents he wants?
- Do I email him showing interest in the job and explain the delay in applying or should I wait until all of my documents are in order?
Thanks for everyone's help with this issue.
