Should I meet the general manager of the restaurant where I applied to increase my chance of employment?

I'm 16 and looking for my first summer job and I had my eye set on a popular vegetarian restaurant in downtown San Antonio, and so I applied as a server. I haven't heard anything back in about a week and I am adamant about getting that position. I am considering walking in Monday or Tuesday between 2-5 pm to ask for the general manager, and show my motivation to work there. Would this be a good plan? And if so what should I ask/tell the general manager?
