I work two retail, part-time jobs. One of the jobs pays a little better and gave me the opportunity to cross-train in their pharmacy department which will give me the same pay but more hours. The environment is more lax and not as stressful as my other job and the employees and I are getting along a lot better than when I first started. One of them even gave me lots of advice on what the job environment here is like and the amount of opportunities for growth at their store which I thought was nice of her to do that. I still hate retail and trying to leave for a better job, but so far the environment here is pretty tolerable and I'd like to stay longer and see what's in store. And if I quit this job, the manager will be able to give me more hours to work which means bigger paycheck.
This other job I got first. It pays less but I feel as if I'm doing twice the work that I'm doing at the better job. This was my first job before I got the better one. It's a more stressful environment and there's no opportunity to get to know my coworkers better which makes things awkward and tense. I only really get along with two employees here but one of them is about to leave lol. I don't feel very appreciated here and I'm starting to learn that they really like to gossip which causes my anxiety to go out of whack because I feel they've been talking about me a lot. Yesterday, two of the managers were gossiping on the side while the rest of us associates suffered from the busy customers that kept on coming. I'm about a month in and almost half of the employees that I've met here when I started have left and I'm assuming they've left for similar reasons that I'm stating in this very post. They don't seem to be able to keep employees for very long. I was actually supposed to leave this place, but my mom persuaded me into working both jobs to get more money.
I'm scheduled to work tomorrow at the hated job but I really don't wanna go. I just got their paycheck on friday so it would make sense to leave now. But truthfully, I just can't... Can I just leave and never look back? I've worked only one other job in the past and I gave a two-weeks notice there. I know it's good practice to do so, but I really just don't care to do it here. I just need to leave.
