Stay or leave for a promotion?

Hey y’all! I’m currently an assistant media planner at a large agency in LA. Within the next few months or so, I plan on making the jump from assistant to planner. Though I like my team, a couple of assistants have been here longer than I have and so will likely be promoted first. Would it likely be “better” for my career to try to be promoted on this team, in another team within my agency, or at another agency entirely? Obviously salary is very important to me and I wonder if I’m more likely to be able to negotiate a higher salary elsewhere?
