This is so frustrating and seems to me to be incredibly unprofessional. I work for a small law firm and it's a great job, but doesn't pay super well. I love the work and the people at the firm, but I have bills to pay. I applied to a job in a neighboring town and it turns out the attorney who I applied to work for knows my current boss very well. Only two days after applying and with absolutely no word from the firm I'm applying to, I get an distressed e-mail from my boss telling me that they had called to let her know I was searching for new work.
It is one thing to contact my employer if they were seriously considering my application or had already interviewed me, but it doesn't seem like they plan to do so, so why the fuck would they do something like this??
Ugh.
