I just got an interview for a temp to perm job as an Admin assistant for a Union that represents county employees. I knew from the temp agency that they were willing to maybe offer $25 an hour upon hire - which is about $52,000 a year - but I mean - I have no guarantee of that.
I went to my interview today - I wasn’t expecting to be asked in my interview what my salary expectations were and I panicked and said $45,000 and up - but it depends on the duties of the role which is technically below what the temp agency told me. The problem is I have no salary info on this company - or anything to compare it to - so I didn’t want to go too high or too low - because who knows what the temp agency throws out there’
I feel VERY stupid right now - because I do have a masters degree, I’m coming off of a job where I was let go so my confidence is low, I’ve always been paid low human services wages - and I’ve never negotiated a salary in my life and I have no idea what the fuck I’m doing. I feel so stupid and like I just straight up undersold myself out of desperation.
Any advice for bouncing back from this?
