Lately, I have arranged a bunch of government interviews. First of all, I had arranged for two interviews within a branch of the government in my city. Yesterday, I went into the first arranged interview of that branch. My second interview for that branch is scheduled for next week Tuesday. I also had two pre-arranged interview for next week Thursday for two different branches.
At noon, I received a phone call saying that I will be offering a job by HR for the position that I interviewed for yesterday. I am completely speechless and a little perplexed because I swear I thought that I had bombed the interview and that I didn't expect an answer back so soon. I asked that when I should be expecting HR to be calling me and it was given to me a time frame of 1-2 weeks. So at the moment, I have not signed any offer sheet or documentations yet.
My dilemma is what do I do with the arranged interviews? I am a naturally curious person and I am always looking for opportunities to learn. I want to go to all the interviews and see what's the best fit for me.
I have spoken to a few people about what I should do which came out differently. A scenario is that I cancelled an interview in the same branch as the offered one and still go to the other two. Another scenario is that I go to all and just try my best until I physically sign an offer sheet from HR based on my best fit. I don't want to upset or offend anybody by my decision but what's the most professional action here?
tl;dr - Got a verbal offer of a job but have multiple interviews arranged. Not sure if going to the arranged interviews will redact offer/ leave my image in a bad light due to it all of them being in different branches of government work.
p.s - these positions deal with different concepts of technical solving but are entry level. They are all the same paygrade and benefits. The only thing I am weighing between these positions are the work, difficulty, learning opportunities, work environment, and the people. So far I only interviewed 1/4 and have one offer - really want to see the rest and see how they differ based on the above factors?
