On November 3rd I ended up OD’ing at a stoplight at 1:50am on my way home. The police broke out my back window because I was unresponsive. They ended up finding 3 kinds of pills and I got a DUI along with it.
3 or so weeks after I had gotten arrested, I had applied to work at Dominos because my old assistant manager at Gerbes (a Kroger company) went there and I wanted to work for him. I was denied employment because of the pending charges. My manager had said that one of the guys that works there is a felon and that after the court case resolves, I’ll be able to be hired.
Currently I work at Gerbes and am on an FMLA leave because I went to residential treatment and lived at a sober living while doing an intensive outpatient program (IOP) in California. I live in Missouri and just returned from California.
I want to find a different job and not work at Gerbes any longer. My court case is still pending and I just met with my lawyer 2 days ago. He said that on June 25th I will have my court case and it will either be this time or the next court date after that that I will get my outcome.
I have no prior records and do not want to work at my current job.
Two questions:
- How come pending court cases prevent employment? Because my brother works at Best Buy and his manager is a felon as well.
2) What are jobs I can work at with pending cases?
