I'm a college student going into my sophomore year. I live in the west coast, but go to school in the east; my time at home is limited, and it's hard to find a job for the summer that will allow me to work until I go back. I have until mid-August to work.
I applied to a handful of places (movie theater, grocery store, etc...), and a crapton of internships. I don't expect to hear from the internships, because I kinda applied late, and I don't have much experience. I don't feel confident about the other places (i applied around 2 weeks ago), but who knows.
I applied to a temp agency 2 weeks ago, and got a job the next week. It's min wage, early in the morning, working in a warehouse.
I don't know whether to continue working for the temp agency. I've heard some not-so-good things from friends and here on Reddit; my parents have been suggesting other places I can work as well.
I don't feel like I belong in the warehouse, and that I won't be able to keep it up. It's not a very flexible schedule, and the environment can be very tense (it's an easy job, but it's the managers that make it tense, and I tend to be really anxious). All I really think about all day is just the job. However, the job is teaching me to be humble, and that this is a struggle many people of my background - including my family - go through.
I don't really know what to do. Would I continue to look for jobs? Should I stay with the agency? I just don't know where to steer myself right now.
Anything helps! Have a good day/night!
TL;DR - College student is summer job searching. Found a temp agency, but skeptical to continue with it. Applied to a few jobs/internships; not confident I'll hear back.
