Applying for unemployment and unsure how to explain my substitute swim teaching on the application and not being in the country last year (MA, USA)
I was laid off at the beginning of April from my full time job. I'm currently filling out the application for unemployment and it has my two seasonal/per diem swim instructor jobs listed as employers. The issue is I haven't flat out quit them per say but I am a substitute and don't work a regular shift because I was working 40 hours per week as well on top of that. I haven't filled in for any shifts since February because of business from my job (before I was laid off) and after I as laid off because they haven't needed any coverage. I don't really know how to explain this on the application. I didn't really officially quit but I also am not really working for them either as I haven't worked any shifts since February and now lessons are over until the fall. What should I put on the unemployment application? I'm afraid it will be misinterpreted as me not willing to work when in fact there are no shifts/the season is over anyways. The other seasonal job is for the summer and I pick up shifts here and there but it also hasn't started yet for the season, although I suppose I am technically still working for them even though I physically can't start the job for the season until the end of next month? I was also teaching abroad until May of last year and the part of the application wants me to say where I have been employed since April of 2018, so I don't know really to put for that either.
