Hello everyone,
I know this was probably asked before but I can’t find it. I’m hoping that I could get some advice on the evolution of greetings in an email exchange.
In an email exchange with a recruiter:
Applicant begins with: Dear Mr/Ms. Lastname,
Recruiter greets with: Dear Firstname,
Applicant responds w: Dear Firstname,
Recruiter responds w: Hi Firstname,
I assume that when exchanging multiple emails, the formality dials down a bit (with Hi Firstname being the lowest in this case). In this situation, is it safe for the applicant to respond with Hi Firstname (of the recruiter)? Or should you stick to Dear Firstname? Could it be dependent on the type of company (i.e tech-related or banking)?
Thanks in advanced for your comments!
