You graduated from school with a stupid degree, you have zero experience, and you don't know where to start. Here is what you do.

Let me preface this by saying this is not going to be easy. It took me about 2 years after graduating college in order to find a full time job. I now make 52K a year at a marketing job in a medium level COL area. Here are the steps I took to dig myself out of the hole.

1.) Learn a new skill.

I got a Liberal studies degree, which is pretty much seen as useless on reddit. In order to make my self more marketable I learned some new skills. I got a Google Adwords certification , I took some very cheap classes at my local community college in digital marketing and programming etc.

2.)Find out how you can spin your existing degree

If you graduated in something like environmental science there is a chance for example you may be able to get a marketing job at a solar energy company. English major? Try social media or copy writing. Art? A lot of graphic design positions will take you with the proper certs

3.) Find a contract job

At first you will likely need a contract job to get experience. Contract jobs are like internships for adults. They usually come in 3 months 6 months or 1 year variety. Some even have a chance of hiring you afterwards. These positions are far less competitive because anyone who is qualified already has a full time job. After learning some new skills and freshening up my resume, I started applying. I got a contract position at the rate of 42K a year. It was supposed to last 3 months but they ended up extending it to a year. Repeat until you have a years worth of experience

3.)Start applying

Congrats! Now you have a years worth of experience in the field of your choice and you are likely attractive for an entry level position.
