A recruiter from a staffing agency reached out to me on LinkedIn about a job. I got the job and I'm stoked! It is an hourly contract role, so I get hired through the agency, and they place me with the job at Company X. I want this job, but I am not a fan of the staffing agency, and I'm only realizing this now. I'm wondering if it's too late to fix it?
I have accepted the job offer through this staffing agency already. I initiated the screening and background check with them. I have signed are Hourly W2 Employee Agreement and Authorization to Release Background Information, but I haven't finished all the paperwork yet (there's a ton more).
The issue is that the benefits offered by the agency are awful. I only learned about this once I started the on-boarding paperwork. I've reached out and asked for other options and there aren't much. (I've worked with staffing agencies before and never have seen this bad of a benefit package) This is the second time I've been blind-sided by them. The first time was that the recruiter did not know or let me know that the interview was a group interview (with other candidates).
What is the ethical protocol here? Can I go to the hiring manager at Company X directly and asking if there are other staffing agencies they work with that I could be placed through? Is it too late to do that? Does it look bad? Should I have asked the staffing agencies about their benefits before I agreed to work with them and now I just have to eat it?
