EDIT: If I'm posting in the wrong sub, please direct me to the right one.
Below are personal accomplishment stories. Can you kind folks critique them? I don't think I'm doing them right. My questions are in caps. Many thanks in advance!
---Going wall climbing at the gym
What you wanted to accomplish: Climb a 45 foot wall
The obstacle (self imposed or not): Falling and injuring myself, not knowing the technique to actually get up there
Solution: Signed up for intro class (IS IT STILL AN ACCOMPLISHMENT IF MY SOLUTION IS TO ASK FOR HELP?)
Research and plan: Watched youtube videos and created a list of questions and concerns I had and tried to get them answered.
Step by step of the plan and any additional obstacles: First, the instructor showed me how to boulder a 10 foot wall and explained the technique. Then I tried it and he assisted with my questions/concerns. Next, I climbed a 25 foot wall with the instructor assisting me. Lastly I spoke with employers workers when I was left to my own devices. (THE STEP BY STEP PLAN WAS DESIGNED BY THE INSTRUCTOR. IS THIS STILL A PLAN? CAN I STILL USE IT AS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT STORY?)
Quantifiable result: I can now climb a 45 foot wall. I am not afraid of falling because I know how to fall correctly and I know how to figure out the routes of the climbs.
---Volunteer to prepare tax returns for lower income families and ensure they received the highest refund possible
What you wanted to accomplish: Interview/prepare income taxes for lower income individuals
The obstacle (self imposed or not): I needed to get a certificate and I needed to learn how to correctly interview people (IS AN EXAM AN OBSTACLE? CAN THERE BE 2 OBSTACLES? I LEARNED HOW TO INTERVIEW PEOPLE WHEN I ALREADY GOT THE CERTIFICATE AND STARTED VOLUNTEERING. WHERE DOES LEARNING HOW TO INTERVIEW BELONG?)
Solution: Study for exam. (IS THIS A CORRECT SOLUTION?)
Research and plan: Found study material and created a study calendar.
Step by step of the plan and any additional obstacles: I spent 25 hours learning the material, taking practice tests and learning how to use the tax platform.
Quantifiable result: I passed the exam on the first try and prepared over 200 tax returns for lower income families.
---Going rock scrambling at (redacted) with group
What you wanted to accomplish: Rock scrambling for the first time and hiking
The obstacle (self imposed or not): My fear of falling or not being able to figure out the route on my own
Solution: I made sure I was always was around other people so that I could ask for assistance (IS THIS A SOLUTION? DEPENDING ON OTHER PEOPLE ASSISTANCE, DOES THAT STILL QUALIFY AS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT?)
Research and plan: I researched the supplies I needed to have - 40oz of water, sunscreen, hiking boots, bug spray, snack, light clothing and made sure to let the leader know that it was my first time rock scrambling.
Step by step of the plan and any additional obstacles: I made sure I carried all of the supplies and I asked people for assistance when I needed it. (HOW DOES THE SOLUTION AND STEP BY STEP DIFFER?)
Quantifiable result: Went 4 miles with 1400 feet elevation gain in 2 hours.
