What exactly is smart casual?

Hey guys!

So after a long 3 months of unemployment and negotiation of my schedule, I finally landed a job with an e-commerce tech company.

So they said the dress code is smart casual, but I honestly have no idea what that entails. I like to wear jeans and shirts, but I feel like that wouldn’t be appropriate. What’s a good outfit to wear for smart casual on my first day? From there I’ll be able to see how everyone else dresses and work around that accordingly.
