I am torn over the salary difference and I have to make my decision in a couple of days.
Reasons: for Not Wanting This Role
-
It doesn’t seem to fall in line with my career goals. It's EDI Mapping. I would like to do work that is meaningful and analytical. Preferably data analyst for an organization. Work Environment wise? I like team collaboration and having a mentor in the meantime.
-
I was warned ahead of time that the environment is intense, stressful, and their approach is very hands off. ( I prefer working on a team especially when I’m starting something new and the environment is not intense. I get panicky easy and I would like a bit more guidance than I admit. )
-
I am scared that I will get fired in days and I won’t adjust to the fast paced environment. I’m kinda slow ; I hyped myself during the interview.
-
The work for the company itself is very niche. I would be doing some EDI mapping. It looks boring.
-
Working with their own internal tool and I would prefer it is a skill or technology that is transferable to other industries.
-
I am holding off and crossing my fingers for getting another position that is team oriented, requires me to build my sql and excel skills. The problem is that I am only on round 1 at the moment.
-
Although my current job doesn't align with my career goal, it is stress free and i get to self teach myself programming and stats on the job.
Reasons for Wanting this Role:
Higher pay. It’s a 10k increase from my current job.
I am close to learning as much as I can about my current role and it hasn’t really helped me much. So learning something new would be refreshing and it is data related but not really. I’m not playing with any data sets.
Move from home.
It’s a guarantee right now.
The internal tool does require some logic but that’s most things.
This role could lead somewhere and it is team oriented...
I feel uneasy in both cases for staying in my current role but also if I pick the other one...it might be a fear of change but I don’t want to keep straying from my career goals and falling into an endless loop of positions that I am hohum about… even now I'm not sure if my career goals will change.
