I had an onsite interview recently and it went really well. Recruiter called me back the next day and too me the team liked a lot and said she is going to send me an offer letter the next day. She asked for my compensation but I said I am not willing to disclose it until I get the offer and then she said that she needs to state the salary on the offer letter so I gave her a number. It was the range that we both discussed on the first phone screen. She then ghosted on me for a few days until I sent her a followup email.
On the email, she said that they are currently interviewing other candidates and it is a process that they usually do but I'm on top of the list. However, if they really liked me, they would send me an offer letter asap instead of interviewing other candidates?? Also, I'm not sure whether the compensation amount I said is too high so the hiring manager needs to reconsider but I was pressured into saying it. Also, I've been seeing this position on career websites again so I'm not sure what it means. Of course, in the meantime I'm still applying to companies but I'm just wondering why the recruiter would contact me right after my interview and ghosted on me?
