Told this by the hiring manager today when I was invited for an on-site. It would require me to use a full days PTO to attend, and make a 2 hour drive. Before I pass on the opportunity, is there any legitimate reason for this? I can't see any reason they wouldn't be able to give me a range before I go through the effort.
I'm a Software engineer, and never had a company balk on giving me a range.
