So Ive been with my company for 3 years now. I work for a liquor distribution company in a state with a 3 tier system so our team is split between sales reps that sell to bars/restaurants and sales reps that sell to liquor stores and wholesale stores.
I fall under a rep that sells to a large chain of accounts. It wasn't my ideal situation but when we were on boarded we didn't really have a choice in our routes, etc. Plus, when i applied, I originally wanted to service bars/restaurants but those positions were all full and I took the job I have now just as some way to get my foot in the door.
Fast forward to today and Ive been granted the opportunity to move to the bar restaurant side! Granted, through my 3 years Ive discovered that my portfolio isnt what I would ideally like to be selling but it still is relevant work experience that I need to develop in my career.
Well for me when it rains, it pours because I also got an interview for a wine distributor that has such an ideal portfolio that I would just love to work with but the pay is slightly more uncertain because its more reliant on commission (i currently have a fairly stable pay not based on commissions). However my passion is wine and this smaller company looks more appealing than my large corporation that I currently work for.
During my interview for the job with my current company they made a few comments asking to make sure I wanted to be there, that I was in it for the long term, etc (after I explained my 5 year goal of eventually landing in wine).
Well now Im all sorts of conflicted because today, as I was driving to my interview with the wine company, I get the call that the job with my present company is mine and HR is drafting the offer packet.
On top of all of this (as if it wasn't enough for my anxiety) I got a call from a Linked In recruiter about a family owned wine store/bar that needs a new GM to take over their menu and purchasing which is a DREAM. Havent fully checked out this opportunity but sheesh its almost too good to be true.
So with all this, my current company wants me to start the new position April 1st, the wine distributor said they would contact me in the next couple days, and the wine bar/store I will be candidly checking out Friday to see what I think and discuss with the recruiter on Saturday.
Mainly I am feeling anxiety about my current company and taking the position when i have two opportunities that I want even more. I know I have to do whats best for me and taking it is the logical answer since the other two are far from being sure things at this point. Business is business, right? Any advice on how to make sure this doesnt get messy but I find my best possible fit?
TL;DR
I have a job offer from my current company for a lateral move and they have already expressed their views on making sure I want the position so they dont have to do the hiring process again, but interviews for two other jobs that I want even more. How to juggle and not make a mess of things?
