So, long story short, I was laid off of my past job March 1st after almost 2 years of employment. The place I was working for is a stellar Fortune 500 and is enviable on a resume.
Anyways, I had been working with a recruiter previously (an actual good one) and by divine intervention he got me an interview for a confidential position at a local much smaller business. It would be a pay raise and shorter commute.
I come to find out that this position is basically newly created and only has one person in it currently (she’s the manager) and it reports directly to the C Suite.
Great I’m super excited, killed the phone interview, me and this manager hit it off like we were best friends. The manager brings me in for an in person, great environment, we obviously click. It’s awesome. I get my verbal offer last Friday.
Still no written offer.... and tomorrow will be a week. My severance runs out in 2 weeks. For their benefit the recruiter and by extension the manager has been keeping me updated daily about the position, but still I’m frustrated, I’ve never been in this position before and I have a fantastic work history.
Is there anything I can do? I feel so helpless. It’s literally sitting on the desk of the CEO to get signed and it’s just sitting there. I don’t know if the CFO or the manager can do anything more now. I can’t keep on waiting like this, I’ve been off work for three weeks and I hate it. I hate not working, I have no motivation to do anything except nap with my 4 year old (which is cool because they’re good to snuggle), but I literally am getting pissed.
Sorry for the rant, it’s just infuriating.
