Would a recruiter give me a better chance for an interview with Google then applying on my own?

A recruiter contacted me from another state claiming they have a position with Google that would be a great fit for me. However, I have been applying for Google jobs for years via my own account. Would there be a better chance of me landing a job interview if I applied via a recruiter?
