Recruiter pitched a job, but I already have an interview set up with the company. Now he's texting me asking how I set it up. Should I respond to him?

I applied for a job through zip recruiter and got a call back the next day from the recruiter. He thought I'd be perfect for a different job, and went through the description, but when he told me the name of the company, it turned out I already have an interview with them next week. He was cool about it, but now he's texting me asking if I got the interview through another staffing firm or directly, and that he just wants to know because his manager will ask. Doesn't seem to be a big deal, but I want to make sure I'm not getting anyone in trouble by answering. I know I'm not doing anything wrong, but I don't know how serious the competition is or if someone is violating a contract. I don't want to be in the middle of anything. Should I respond to him?

Edit: I originally set up the interview through another recruiter.
